Sounds of the Seventies BBC TV series (2 DVD Set). This is a 10 episode series first broadcast in 1995. In similar style to "Sounds of the Sixties" and "Sounds of the Eighties", archive performances are linked by humorous clips from tv shows of the time. Both audio and video are the original MPEG streams as broadcast by the BBC.

EPISODE 01: THE CLOTHES I LOVE TO WEAR (28 min)
This edition looks at the fashions of the early 70s - silver stacks, sequins, hot pants and jump suits - and the tearful reactions provoked by appearances from the likes of Donny Osmond and the Bay City Rollers. Plus music from T Rex, the Sweet, David Cassidy, Mud and Alvin Stardust.

EPISODE 04: FREE TO BE ME (28 min)
A favourite teenage chat-up line in 1972 was 'do you like heavy music?'. The intellectually inclined called it 'progressive', and it even had its own TV programme - The Old Grey Whistle Test. Out of 'heavy' music was eventually to come heavy metal, but first came the back-to-basics no nonsense 'pub rock' that was to foreshadow punk. Including performances from Free, Deep Purple, jethro tull, Yes and Dr Feelgood.
